Dexter knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Socorro likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Dexter humbled Hot Springs with a 41-14 victory. Considering the Demons have won six contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Dexter can attribute much of their success to Garet Gonzalez, who rushed for 121 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries, and Cj Granados, who threw for 153 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. With that strong performance, Gonzalez is now averaging an impressive 101.8 rushing yards per game.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Dexter was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 263 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards in ten consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Socorro, who bounced back after a loss on the road on October 10th. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Cobre 9-7. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Warriors were the (much) better team in the second half.
Dexter's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Socorro, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
Dexter strolled past Socorro when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 44-29. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
