ANTHONY, N.M. — Goddard sets out on the road in search of their next win as they’ll be traveling to Anthony, New Mexico to battle the Gadsden Panthers at Gadsden High School’s Panther Stadium.
The Rockets enter the matchup coming off a tough, heartbreaking one-point loss—a game that most who watched would be certain to say was not a loss at all given how fiercely Goddard fought until the final whistle. But with resilience in their DNA, the Rockets are looking to channel that into fuel for this road test.
Gadsden returns to the field aiming to right the ship after a tough 57 to 14 loss on the road in Artesia last Friday, September 18. Playing in front of their home crowd at Panther Stadium, the host squad will be eager to establish early momentum and defend their home turf.
Both teams look hungry for a win to reset their footing with district play well underway. With playoff seeding and district pride on the line, expect an intense, physical showdown from the opening kickoff.

ROSWELL, N.M. — The Roswell High Coyotes kept their momentum rolling on Friday, September 18, 2026, extending their winning streak to three games with a resounding 48-12 victory over the Deming Wildcats.
From the opening kickoff, Roswell dominated every phase of the matchup, putting together their most complete and convincing performance of the season so far. The Coyotes’ offense fired on all cylinders while the defense shut down Deming's attack early, securing their most dominating win of the year.
Tonight, the Coyotes return home to defend their home turf as they host the Chaparral Lobos at 6:00 PM right here in Roswell at the Wool Bowl.
Chaparral comes into tonight's contest looking to bounce back after a tough road outing on September 18, where they suffered a 58-7 defeat at the hands of the Mayfield Trojans.

The Lady Bulldogs earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Lady Coyotes in a physical matchup that tested both teams on both sides of the ball.
The contest remained tightly contested throughout, but the Bulldogs were able to hold off a strong second-half push from the Coyotes to secure the shutout win.
Following the game, Bulldogs head coach Tim Trentham acknowledged that his team faced challenges early, particularly in winning possession battles in the midfield.
"I thought they were a lot more aggressive to every 50/50 ball," Trentham said. "We gave up the middle of the field quite a bit."
Despite those concerns, the Bulldogs' defense stood strong. Coach Trentham was pleased with his team's defensive effort and their ability to withstand increasing pressure as the game progressed.
"Defensively, I thought we did pretty well," he said. "They turned up the intensity in the second half and really brought the game to us."
As the Lady Coyotes pushed forward looking for the equalizer, the Lady Bulldogs leaned heavily on goalkeeper Leila Irvin, who delivered several key saves to preserve the lead.
"I thought our keeper kept us in the second half," Trentham said. "Defensively, we just did enough to hold them."
With district play approaching, Trentham believes the Bulldogs can use the match as a valuable learning experience. He noted that a recent stretch of less challenging games may have impacted his team's sharpness and intensity.
"We've got district coming up next," Trentham said. "We need to get back to pace and be a little more aggressive. We need to earn possession, maintain possession, and be smarter with the ball."
The Bulldogs will also focus on improving possession and controlling the midfield to create more attacking opportunities moving forward.
For her standout performance between the posts, Trentham nominated sophomore goalkeeper Leila Irvin as the Bulldogs' Player of the Game.
"She really held the game in the second half and had a couple pretty decent saves," Trentham said.
Behind Irvin's stellar effort and a resilient defensive performance, the Lady Bulldogs secured the 1-0 victory and gained momentum as they prepare for district competition.
Looking forward, The Roswell Lady Coyotes will make their district debut on the road Tuesday, Sept. 29, when they travel to face the Clovis Lady Wildcats. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Artesia Lady Bulldogs will look to keep their momentum rolling after closing out non-district play with an impressive victory over Roswell. Artesia opens district action Saturday, Sept. 26, on the road as they travel to battle, the Portales Lady Rams at 1 p.m. in Portales.

HAGERMAN, N.M. — The Hagerman/Lake Arther Bobcats' Homecoming football game scheduled for Friday has been canceled after opponent Alamo Navajo was unable to field enough players for the contest.
The announcement came from Hagerman Municipal Schools, disappointing students, parents, and fans who were looking forward to one of the biggest events of the football season. Despite the cancellation, school officials emphasized that Homecoming festivities will continue as planned.
The Homecoming parade will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a pep rally in the high school gym. During the rally, members of the Homecoming Court will be introduced, and the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned. The annual Homecoming dance will also take place Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
While the Bobcats will not take the field this week, the team remains focused on its season. Hagerman/Lake Arther enters the break with a 2-2 record and will look to build momentum when it returns to action on Sept. 18 against Mescalero Apache in its next home game.
Elementary students who participated in the Kiddie Cheer Camp will still have an opportunity to perform during that upcoming home matchup.

RHS Battles Past Centennial in Physical 3-1 Varsity Victory; JV Also Earns Win
Roswell Sports Report | September 8, 2026— Roswell High School put together a strong second-half performance to defeat Centennial 3-1 in varsity soccer action after the teams battled to a scoreless first half.
Centennial's defense proved difficult to break down early, keeping RHS off the scoreboard through the opening 40 minutes. However, the Coyotes responded with an offensive surge in the second half, finding the back of the net three times to secure the victory.
Leading the charge for RHS was Axel Sanchez (#16), who scored two goals in a standout performance. Debrice Ashung (#9) added another goal to help put the game out of reach.
Centennial's lone goal came from Salamon Ragosta (#20).
The match also featured some late drama on the sidelines. Centennial's head coach was cautioned with a yellow card during the first half. After receiving a second yellow card in the final minute of the match, the coach was issued a red card and automatically ejected.
Earlier in the day, the RHS junior varsity squad earned a 2-1 victory over Centennial, completing a successful outing for Roswell High against the Hawks.

The win also extends Roswell’s strong run of form. Dating back to last season, the Coyotes have taken nine of their last ten matches, improving to 8–1 on the year. NMMI’s loss drops the Colts to 1–3–1 this season.
Both programs were back on the pitch quickly. Roswell followed Saturday’s result with a 9–0 win over Goddard on Sept. 5, adding another decisive outing to their resume. NMMI also returned to action on the 5th, earning a 1–0 victory over Organ Mountain to rebound from their earlier defeat.

After a tough road loss last week, Dexter came home angry and focused, and Ruidoso took the full punch. Bayard, NM — October 31, 2025 Dexter knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Socorro likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Dexter humbled Hot Springs with a 41-14 victory. Considering the Demons have won six contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Dexter can attribute much of their success to Garet Gonzalez, who rushed for 121 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries, and Cj Granados, who threw for 153 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. With that strong performance, Gonzalez is now averaging an impressive 101.8 rushing yards per game.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Dexter was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 263 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards in ten consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Socorro, who bounced back after a loss on the road on October 10th. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Cobre 9-7. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Warriors were the (much) better team in the second half.
Dexter's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Socorro, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
Dexter strolled past Socorro when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 44-29. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
